Core Activation for Hip Mobility
March 15, 2018
How often do you work on hip mobility? How many times have you come into a squat and said “I really need to stretch my hips?” It is commonly believed that lack of mobility in the hips is caused by tightness in the hip musculature. The widely practiced solution is to stretch the hip musculature. It is true that, for some, range of motion is truly limited by muscle tightness. But many of us who have been stretching and mobilizing our hips for years have seen little to no improvement in hip mobility. But the problem isn’t actually tight muscles. The solution is not more and more endless stretching. The fix is actually activation of the core.
