Exercise Of The Week – The Burpee

There are hundreds of videos out there showing individuals performing burpees lots of different ways. Some are good and some aren’t. But with all that info out there, how are you supposed to know what’s a good burpee and what’s not? Let me break down the most important pieces of the burpee that are required and why. There are plenty of regressions and progressions beyond the basic form, but when they deviate too far from what we know to be necessary then they are not good progressions. Key ingredients: flat palms, use a plank, use a squat. Anything that breaks you out of these key pieces are probably not good progressions. But before we even get there, make sure you have mastered the basic burpee first!
